Societal responsibilities

Purba Medinipur District Police believes in professionalism, uprightness & responsiveness. It is our constant endeavour to ensure that policing in the district is a positive avenue for the citizens to uphold their fundamental rights. Our men are trained, willing and capable of being the first responder in the service to the society – something, which we consider as our primary responsibility.

Senior citizen’s cell

Nowadays, it has been seen that lot of offences are committed upon senior citizens and in most of the cases, the offenders are known to the victims like watchmen/relatives/servants etc. Hence, it is always advisable to recruit a domestic help with the help of local police station. Financial matters should not be discussed in front of others. Installation of alarms is also a welcome step.

You or your near ones may be a subject of sexual crime. Most of these offences go un-noticed since the offender is usually a known person and complaining against that person may be unacceptable to your close ones. However, you need to take the bold step of speaking for what you think is right – visit the nearest police station, lodge a complaint and help the police in the process of investigation.

How to report other crimes

It is quite possible that you come across something which you know is against the law. You may also see that a person is committing an offence or is subjected to torture. You may also have a doubt regarding the fact that whether the matter is against law or not. In any of the cases mentioned above, please feel free to contact the local Police Station and inform them – the rest will be enquired upon, by the police.

How to report terrorism

Terrorism is the biggest menace of today’s globalized world. A terrorist attack may take place on land, from air, by sea – anytime, anywhere. While it is our aim to thwart any such attack, it may not always be possible. But with the alertness of responsible citizens like you, the impacts/loss due to such attacks can be minimized. Any related information or suspicious activity/person may kindly be brought to the notice of local police station.

Sexual abuse of children and subsequent trafficking has emerged as one of the fastest increasing crimes in our society. Children may be subjected to torture as a victim of child labour or they may end up being pawns in the hands of child marriage. And in most of the cases, they may not be in a position to seek help. It is thus, your responsibility to bring such crimes to the notice of the local police

In case you feel that you are being subjected to domestic violence, please contact your nearest Police station and register a complaint. You may also speak to your family members & friends for their intervention. You can alternatively visit the District Protection Officer and seek help. Legal advice may also be thought of, in case you wish to go for a divorce, file a maintenance case etc.You or your near ones may be a subject of sexual crime.
