PurbaMedinipur District has more than 150 km of National Highway, NH-41 (52 km) from Kolaghat to Haldia, NH-6 (26 km) from Kolaghat to Srirampur (Panskura) and NH-116B (90 km) from Sridharpur More (Nandakumar) to Digha. These highways connect Kolkata to many attractive tourist spots like Digha, Mandermoni, Shankarpur, Tajpur etc and important port as well as Industrial Hub like Haldia. Consequently, many passenger vehicles as well as goods vehicles ply through this district and the District Traffic Police has to play a very challenging role to ensure free flow of vehicular traffic, specifically during tourist seasons and we are performing this task with much zeal, dedication and responsibility.

The District Traffic Police has taken many initiatives like installation of Cautionary, Informatory and Mandatory Road signages, introduction of Highway Patrol Vans fitted with Modern Cameras. The installation of CCTV Cameras with special features like NPR and RLVD is going on. Traffic Police has been observing Safe Drive Save Life campaign by holding Awareness Programmes among public by road show, miking, helmet distribution, rakshabandhan and other initiative like “No Helmet, No Petrol” has also been taken. The MV act violators have also been prosecuted. All efforts are being taken to ensure smooth movement of traffic all over the districts and reduce road accidents. When a child/ person is missing from any one’s home, the family member of the missing children/person should inform the matter to the concerned police station with the following information/documents.

• The photo of the missing children/ person.
• Mentioning Height/weight/colour of the missing children/ person in the complaint. Wearing apparel during the time of missing.
• Any identification mark of the missing children/ person should be mention in the complaint.
• Actual date & time of missing.

If any person finds any child without any guardian/ person in need of help, moving at the bus stop/Railway station or any public place, is requested to inform the matter to the nearest police station and also inform District Police Control Room (03228-269797).
